WM: Replenishment of Fixed Bins in the Warehouse

Description

Beginning with Release 3.0, a new report (RLLNACH1) has been made available for the Warehouse Management (WM) system that controls the replenishment of stock to fixed bins in the warehouse.

Based on the current stock situation for each storage bin and entries in the material master record, the system calculates the replenishment quantities that are necessary to maintain appropriate stock levels. The report then creates transfer requirements for the quantities needed. Afterward, you process the transfer requirements to create transfer orders according to the normal procedures you would normally use to carry out stock movements in the WM system.

Change system parameters in customizing

To implement the replenishment task, you must first define a WM movement type for storage types that use the fixed bin stock placement strategy. In the standard WM system, you can use movement type 319 that was created for this purpose.

Define/modify movement type according to your requirements.

Effect on batch input

You can also process this report in batch to replenish fixed bin storage types at regular predefined time periods.

Changes in procedure

In addition to changes in the customizing application, you must also maintain the material master record for each material concerned. To do this, you need to enter the data in the Storage bin, Maximum bin quantity, Minimum bin quantity and Replenishment quantity data fields at the storage type level in the Warehouse Management view of the material master record.

To change a material that has already been maintained for fixed bin storage, select MasterData -> Material -> Change from the WM menu bar and enter the appropriate data.

Important: If you have not maintained a material for a specific fixed bin, you must go through the procedure to create (extend) an existing material and enter a fixed bin storage type in the "Organization levels" section. Otherwise, you cannot enter replenishment data into the appropriate section in the Warehouse Management view of the material master record.

Further notes

When defining the movement type, if you make an entry in the field Automatic TO , the system will create transfer orders automatically from the transfer requirements. This field is linked to a control table that can be maintained to customize the automatic creation of transfer orders. See the WM Implementation Guide (IMG) documentation to maintain this field.
