Example: Transaction-Based Top-Down Distribution
Customizing Settings
Value Field Assignment
In the value field assignment, you specify which field you want to use as the reference for distributing the values in each value field.
Value field: |
Sales quantity |
Reference: |
Sales quantity |
Distribution Profile
In the distribution profile, you specify the following:
Reference record type |
"*" - same record type as the data to be distributed |
Reference version |
"*" - same version as the data to be distributed |
Method |
2 - Distribute "nonassigned" only |
Distribution level
: Here we specify the product as the characteristic that should receive the data.As a result of this distribution profile, any changes you make to the sales quantity at a higher level are automatically distributed top-down to the individual products using the previously existing planning data in the same version as the reference data.
Planning levels
The planning level from which the values are distributed contains the characteristics Customer group and Product group. At this level, a parameter set is created for the Enter planning data planning method. The distribution profile described above is entered into this parameter set. The planning layout for the parameter set has the lead columns customer group and product group.
The detailed planning level for monitoring distribution contains the characteristics Customer group, Product group, and Product. In this example, this is also the level for the reference data because the record type and the version are identical in each case.
Data Update
The following data already exists in the database (for one period):

When executing the Enter planning data (or Change planning data) planning method at the planning level that is to be distributed, you now see the following values (data for products is summarized):

The values are changed as follows:

When we save these changes, the system creates the following line items:
