Storage Location Determination with Situation

In this step, you assign a storage location to the combination of storage condition and situation for each plant.
You first define plant, storage condition and situation. This type of storage location determination is of particular importance for Retail scenarios.

The settings for a storage location are not required if only this one storage location exists for the plant.

On the goods receipt side, storage location determination makes the following possible:

• Entry of a goods receipt without explicit entry of the storage location, in particular for cross-docking and promotion procedures. For the latter, you are therefore able to carry out separate inventory management and valuation for promotional goods and standard goods.

• Automatic goods receipt posting in stores following upload from a store retailing system

On the goods issue side, storage location determination enables you to determine a picking storage location dependent on the situation and independent of the shipping point. For this, the picking location determination rule RETA must be assigned to the relevant delivery type. This ensures that the stock removal location in a plant correspond to the putaway location.
