rank

Definition

Rank that a change master record adopts when several changes are made with reference to different change numbers.

Use

If you enter the rank, the system can determine a valid change status under the following conditions (for example, for BOM explosions):

1. An object (for example, a BOM) has been processed with reference to at least two different change numbers.
2. At least two of the different change numbers are of the same effectivity type.

The higher the rank number, the higher the evaluation priority.

Examples

You change a BOM with reference to three change numbers.

Rank Change number
10 N-1
30 N-2
20 N-4

Since change number N-2 has the highest rank, the changes to this change number are taken into account in the BOM explosion.

Dependencies

You activate rank entry in Customizing for Engineering Change Management under Set up control data.

If you process an object with reference to different change numbers of the same effectivity type and the rank is not activated, the system determines the effective change number according to the internal counter.
