Settings: Transportation

In this section, you make the application-specific update settings for transportation.

The business transactions from the application influence the statistics update with Update Group.

The transportation planning point determines the update group in transportation processing.

To avoid assigning single objects (for example, every single transportation service agent) to an update group, you can group together objects belonging to the same organizational element. Each group of objects is then considered a statistics group.

Statistics groups can be formed for the following organizational elements:

Example

In transportation processing, single shipments are distinguished from collective shipments. Both methods of shipment are identified by different shipment types.

You want to save the quantities from different shipment types in various statistics fields in an information structure. Only statistics fields corresponding to single shipment quantities are allowed to be updated by single shipments. Likewise, only statistics fields that cumulate collective shipment quantities can be updated by collective shipments.

To control the various updates, use two different update groups.

For example, assign the update group "000001" to the shipment type for single shipments. You previously assigned this shipment type to statistics group "01".

Assign the update group "000002" to the shipment type for collective shipments. You previously assigned this shipment type to statistics group "02".

Always refer to an update group when you define the Update Rules for the key figures of an information structure.

When you define the update rules for your information structure with reference to the update group "000001", you define only the key figures that are updated by single shipments.

Likewise, when you define the update rules with reference to the update group "000002", you define only the key figures that are updated by collective shipments.

You assign key figures that should be updated from both shipment types according to the definition for both update groups.
