Define Budget Structure Element Types

In this step of the IMG, you maintain the attributes of budget structure element types. A budget structure element type, in turn, determines the attributes (name and classication) of budgets (in other words, you specify whether the budget structure element type is defined in monetary amounts, or full-time equivalents).

Note:

The budget unit Full-time equivalents was developed specially for Germany. Consequently, it should only be used in Germany.

You can use budget structure element types to define and execute a budget hierarchy.

Example

Budget structure element types can be defined as follows:

BS element type Name Classification
000 Budget Level 1 Monetary budget
001 Budget Level 2 Monetary budget
002 Budget Level 3 Monetary budget
003 Budget Level 4 Full-time equivalents (FTE)
004 Budget Level 5 Full-time equivalents (FTE)

Activities

To define budget structure element types, proceed as follows:

1. Enter a unique key for each budget structure element type you require.
2. Specify how the budget structure element type is classified. Please remember that each budget structure element type can be assigned only one type of classification - either monetary budget or FTEs.
If the budget of the budget structure element type in question is a monetary budget, then this budget structure element type is managed in the budget currency defined for the corresponding budget section. In this case, select the Monetary budget flag. Do not enter anything in the Budget unit column.
If the budget of the budget structure element type in question is an FTE budget, this budget structure element type is managed in FTEs, not in currency amounts. In this case, enter the unit of measure STA (full-time equivalents) in the Budget unit field. Do not select the Monetary budget flag.
3. If the budget of a budget structure element type can be allocated, select the Allocatable flag for it. If the budget is a summarization item, do not select this flag.
4. Choose Save.
