Maintain Infotypes

In this step, you can change the attributes of an infotype.

An infotype is a collection of object attributes that belong together either logically or in a business perspective.

You can make the following settings:

If infotypes are subdivided into subtypes, a time constraint is defined for each subtype. To create subtypes of your own, work through the step "Maintain subtypes" and define a time constraint for each subtype.

Example

The Address infotype (which can be assigned to the object type "Organizational unit") comprises the various elements that make up an address (for example, zip code, city, street, house number, and so on).

Note

You can create 4-digit numeric infotypes ranging from "9000" through "9999".

Requirements

You must already have completed the step

"Maintain object types".

Recommendation

You should subdivide this range further for the various components in Human Resources.

Example of how customer-specific infotypes might be subdivided:

Infotype Range
Customer master data "9000" through "9099"
Customer planning data "9100" through "9199"
Customer time data "9200" through "9299"

Activities

1. If applicable, change the name of an infotype.
2. Examine the time constraint of the infotype (or subtypes), and change it if necessary.
3. Assign the infotypes to the object types.

Hinweis:

The 'No maintenance' field in the "Infotypes per object type" view does not affect the Customizing settings. If it is selected, this merely means that the infotype in question cannot be maintained using the standard transactions.
