Process Management: New Functions in Release 3.0E

Description

As of Release 3.0E, the following new functions are available in process management:

Displaying process messages in the PI sheet

You can display the message created for a process data request or process data calculation formula in the PI sheet by double-clicking on the corresponding requested values or the formula result. In addition to this, you can still use the familiar menu functions for displaying messages (Menu Edit).

Specifying the production date/shelf life expiration date using process messages

When you post a goods receipt using a process message of category PI_PROD, the value assigned to characteristic PPPI_EVENT_DATE can be reported to inventory management as the production date. For the system to be able to do so, the following requirements must be met:

The system determines the shelf life expiration date using the total shelf life and the production date.

Note:
If you do not use the standard message PI_PROD to post a goods receipt but have defined your own message category for this, the system uses the characteristic allocated to target field EVENT_DATE of destination PI04 as the production date.

Message destination for posting general goods movements

In Customizing for process management, you can define a message destination to post general goods movements using function module COCI_CONFIRM_MATERIAL_MOVEMENT. The function module supports all movement types which can be posted using the transaction "Record goods movement".

For further information, please refer to the documentation on function module COCI_CONFIRM_MATERIAL_MOVEMENT.

Change system parameters in customizing

To be able to post goods movements for all movement types using process messages, you must make the following settings in Customizing for process management.

You must assign the message characteristics to the destination-specific target fields.
