SAP Session Manager: central user interface on
Windows95 and WindowsNT
Description
The Session Manager is a new user interface for running the R/3 System from
Windows95 or WindowsNT frontends.
The user has access to the complete SAP menu, a reduced company menu and a
user menu on the frontend.
- The SAP menu contains the full R/3 System
functionality.
- The Company menu contains only the part of the SAP menu
which the customer uses.
When an R/3 System is installed, it is configured by choosing the application
components which are actually to be used in the enterprise. The reduced
company menu for the Session Manager is automatically created from these
chosen components, which can then be modified manually.
- The User menu only contains those parts of the company
menu, which are intended for the user.
Activities are defined in the transaction PFCG, to which menus can be chosen.
Users are then assigned to the activities. A specific menu is thus assigned to
each user.
The new user interface on the frontend comprises a window with several
indexes:
- Logon index
The logon index allows you to logon to various systems.
The logon index can be used in a simple or in an extended form.
- The user can logon to pre-set systems using the simple form.
- Using the extended form the user can choose between several systems.
- Overview index
The overview index provides the user with an overview of all sessions which he
or she has opened in one or more R/3 Systems.
- System index (one for each system)
At each logon to a system, a system index is created. The system index
contains the SAP menu, the company menu and the user menu. Transactions and
analyses are performed by mouse-click or "drag and drop".
The user can also save frequently-used functions in a personal folder in which
they are always directly available.
