Enhancements in SAPLPD versions 2.40
+
Description
- Access method S is now recommended for all PC printers. As of Version
2.42, this access method works with all SAP device types, and enables the
return of SAPLPD error messages and the compression of print data.
- Using the function module RSPO_INSERT_SPOOL_CONCATENATE with the 32-bit
version of SAPLPD 2.42, you can download data to PC files and execute a
specified command on the PC.
- With the 32-bit version of SAPLPD 2.42, you can print Windows bitmap
graphics (.bmp file format). You can include these graphics in the print data
(for example, a graphic in a SAPscript layoutset), or you can include an
existing .bmp file on the PC in the printout.
- SAPLPD can search for network printers (shared printers) even when they
are not defined in the local Windows Print Manager. This function is
controlled by the EnableRemotePrinters variable in the SAPLPD section of the
win.ini file (default value = 0, inactive).
- SAPFAX terminates by default if the destination number of the FAX software
cannot be transmitted. This function is controlled by the AbortOnManualDial
variable in the SAPLPD section of the win.ini file (default value = 1).
The system used to display a dialog box by
default for requesting a fax number online.
- The 32-bit version of SAPLPD 2.42 is protected against viruses. If there
is a virus, the program outputs a warning message and is ended. You must then
reinstall the .exe file.
- As of SAPLPD 2.40 and Release 3.0D, proportional fonts can be used with
device type SAPWIN.
- SAPLPD now continues when the program cannot determine the host name of
the PC. The program used to terminate the processing of print data when the
host name could not be determined.

Printers" section of the SAP WinHelp manual "Printing Guide" (Help -> R/3
library -> Basis -> Printing Guide).
