Mail Connection

Use

You can use the mail connection to send a mail quickly and easily to business partners from the MRP list and the stock/requirements list. This is useful, for example, if exception situations have appeared in the result of the planning run and you want to inform the relevant business partner in writing immediately.

External E-Mail

You can send mails to the following recipients:

to the vendor, who is assigned to the material in the source list and is flagged as relevant to MRP

This function is particularly useful with single-source vendors. If several vendors are entered in the source list, the mail addresses of all the vendors, who are flagged as MRP-relevant, appear in the send screen and you can delete any that you do not require.

to the vendors entered in a purchase requisition, purchase order or schedule lines

to the customer in a sales order

Internal SAP Mail

You can also send mails to the MRP controller for a material using the internal SAP mail function.

You can determine whether a mail is sent to a single recipient or to a recipient group.

You can integrate the sending of the mail into a workflow. The recipient then receives a work item with the stock/requirements list. The recipient must call up the list and close the work item explicitly in order to delete it from the mail inbox.

Features

The system copies certain parameters directly into the mail and these are internal, and if available, external material number, plant and mail address for the recipientor internal user . In the case of external e-mail, the system also copies the MRP element number.

You can enter a title, add free text, change the address of the recipient or add further recipients as well as attach files manually.

You set up the mail connection over flexible transaction calls.

Effects on System Administration

If you want to send a mail to the MRP controller of a material, you must enter the recipient or recipient group in Customizing for MRP or for consumption-based planning in the IMG activity Define MRP controllers.

Effects on Customizing

If you want to integrate internal mails into a workflow, you must define the user for the workflow in Customizing for MRP or for consumption-based planning in the IMG activity Activate workflow for mail to MRP controller.
