QM: Integration of Serial Numbers

Description

Effective Release 3.0, the QM module uses the Plant Maintenance (PM) module's serial number management function.

In order to use the serial number management function, you must assign a serial number profile to a material in the material master. If you assign a serial number profile to a material, it means that serial numbers must be recorded for the material within the scope of the QM functionality.
You can assign a serial number profile to a material in the quality management data view using the menu option 'General plant data' in the Extrasmenu.

You can define the management of serial numbers individually for each inspection type for a material by activating the indicator for single units ("single units possible").

If you have specified that serial numbers are to be managed for an inspection type, the single units being inspected are managed as serial number lists for the inspection lot . The PM module's object list technique is used for this purpose.

The integration of the serial number management function allows you to:

• maintain serial numbers as an object list for the inspection lot

• copy the object list for the inspection lot from the object list of the serial numbers to the material document for goods receipt or goods issue postings

• assign single results of a serial number from the object list during results recording

• confirm defects for a serial number
