The inventory of handling units usually refers to the outermost handling unit (HU). Since this outer HU corresponds to a storage unit, the inventory is executed in the WM system, as before. In the inventory process, the material quantities or the storage units are counted for each storage bin.
If differences are noted during inventory, a difference HU is created for the difference quantity in the differences storage type as the differences are picked from WM. The difference HU is the basis for clearing out stock in inventory management.
Currently, it is not possible to record differences for nested handling units or for handling units that contain serial numbers. It is also not possible for a handling unit that was previously not in this storage bin to be recorded for this storage bin during the inventory process. However, if differences do occur, the handling units must be unpacked and the contents of each individual handling unit must be redetermined in order to ensure that the differences that occurred can be clearly assigned to the HUs concerned. Use the Create and Process Handling Units function (transaction HU02) for these types of difference postings.

Recording storage units is only appropriate if you have standard palletization.
