QM: Connecting Subsystems to the Results Recording Function and the Usage Decision.

Description

The QM module from Release 3.0 onwards features the QM-IDI interface ("Inspection Data Interface in Quality Management") which is an open interface for connecting subsystems. This interface was designed for exchanging quality data from the inspection processing function.

You can delegate processing of inspection operations to subsystems.
You can define whether an operation is to be processed in the QM system or in a subsystem at the work center where the relevant operation is processed. For this purpose, you must specify the subsystem in the master record of the work center.

When an inspection lot is released in the QM module, operations which are to be processed in a subsystem are entered in a work list. The inspection characteristics are blocked for processing in QM when the operations are transferred to the subsystem.

SAP provides function modules which are equipped with an RFC interface for transferring the inspection specifications (download) and the inspection result confirmations (upload).

Software/hardware requirements

The requirements which must be fulfilled by the software on the subsystem in order to be able to incorporate SAP RFC function modules are described in the documentation for the "SAP Remote Function Call (RFC) Interface".

Change system parameters in customizing

Permissible logic subsystems can be defined in the system settings for the results recording function for subsystems.

Information on how to define subsystems can be found in the Implementation Guide.
