Changes in
Report Writer
Use
The following changes have been made and new
features added to Report Painter and Report Writer:
- Report output
Two different menus with differing functions are available to the user for the
execution of reports. The standard mode include all the essential functions
needed to execute a report. Special functions that experience has shown to be
needed by only a few users, or that require special knowledge of the Report
Writer, can only be used in the
expert mode . The expert mode can be activated or deactivated by
the user at any time from the selection screen or in the report output. The
expert mode is not linked to any authorizations.
- Export functions
The export in RPW format (Export to Excel) has been replaced by
Office Integration . This can be activated from the selection
screen or in the report output. The Excel export in RPW format is no longer
supported.
- Calling reports with the SAP GUI for HTML
Reports are called with the SAP GUI for HTML. Calls using Web-RFC
(G_RW_WWW_REPORT_SELSCREEN_GET; G_RW_WWW_REPORT_TO_HTML;
G_RW_WWW_SELSCREEN_TO_HTML; G_RW_WWW_SUBMIT_REPORT) are no longer
supported.
- Generating report groups
After a support package has been imported report groups will now be
regenerated automatically.
If an object used in a report group has been changed and if the indicator in
the header attributes of the report groups has not been set to 'Do
not generate automatically' , then the report group is
regenerated without a further confirmation prompt.
- Scheduling of report groups in the
background
To execute report groups in the background we recommend that you use the new
report
RGRWSUBMIT.
- After a support package has been imported or
an upgrade to a new maintenance level has been carried out, extracts are
regenerated automatically
- After the installation of a note you may find
that you cannot display the extracts saved prior to this. In such cases you
previously had to delete the extracts concerned and generate new ones. In most
cases the old extracts can be restored by regenerating them. You can use the
following functions from the extract management (transaction GRE1) for
this:
-> Utilities -> Regenerate extract
-> Utilities -> Generate extract in background
- In rare cases it could happen that after a
note or support package has been imported, old extracts cannot be recreated by
the regeneration. In such cases the extracts must be recreated by reselecting
them.
- To ease the reorganization, the extract
management now displays how often an extract has previously been called. It is
also possible, when generating an extract, to indicate the importance of an
extract by giving it a
priority. The authorization object 'G_803J_GJB' is checked with
the activity 'EP'.

Existing Data
- Extract management
Extracts created in an earlier Release can no longer be displayed. Old
extracts have to be deleted.
