New function: sequential data in the
TemSe
Description
Sequential datasets that are created in payroll and used in evaluations
will in future be stored in the TemSe file (Temporary Sequential Objects).
The advantages of this are as follows:
- These sequential datasets can be maintained within the SAP system.
- Different types of access authorization may be assigned (Write, Read,
Delete).
- Greater system dependability: evaluations will only run with the relevant
datasets, otherwise an error message appears.
- F4 Help function on the evaluation report selection screen: this will only
display datasets for the evaluation report in question.
Installation information
Before going productive, you need to set up a number range for the the
number range object RP_TEMSE. To do this, you start report RPUTSN00. Number
ranges must be set up up per client.
System administration changes
Access to the TemSe is controlled by the authorization object S_TMS_ACT.
The generic name of a TemSe object may be used in authorizations. HR objects
in the TemSe, for example, all start with HR_... (see documentation on
HR Temse object). The naming convention for HR objects in
the TemSe is described in the documentation on
object identifier.
Changes to the interface
You now enter the name of the TemSe object in the HR report selection
screens which evaluate the sequential datasets. There is a special F4 Help
function for the TemSe objects.
Changes in procedure
There are different procedures for online and batch reports.
- Online processing:
To prevent old datasets from being overwritten, each dataset is
is given a consecutive
object number.
- Batch processing:
If the report creating the dataset is a batch job, it is not
given a consecutive
object number. Old
datasets with the same object name are overwritten. You
may, however, replace the object number with any
character string you like (see documentation on
object number). This allows you to
start payroll as a batch job more than once without over-
writing the previously created dataset each time.
Further notes
Run report RPUTSV00 to list all the HR objects in the TemSe.
