Exception Reporting

Description

An exception determines that an object is regarded as being unusual. If the condition is fulfilled, that is, if a number value for this object exceeds or drops below a certain threshold, this is, for example, indicated a corresponding color.

You define exceptions in reports for columns or cells. To define an exception, you first have to execute the report. This applies both to a drilldown report and a report portfolio report which was stored as definition report in SAP-EIS. The 'Extras' menu contains the functions 'Create exception', 'Display exception' and 'Delete exceptions'.

If you choose the function 'Create exception', the system displays a dialog box in which you specify the area of validity the exception refers to. You then get to a dialog box in which you can specify values for a lower and upper threshold. Furthermore, you specify colors for these thresholds which are to be set when dropping below or exceeding the thresholds.

If you have defined such an exception, the corresponding column or cell is colored red, green, or not at all depending in its color value. In this way, you can define as many exceptions in a report as required.

With the function 'Display exceptions', you receive a list on all exceptions of the current report. You can use the function 'Delete exceptions' to delete all exceptions of a report.

In report structures saved without data in the SAP-EIS report portfolio, the color of the report is controlled via the exceptions in the graphical menu. If you execute such a report in background processing, all exceptions of this report are valuated. It is determined whether the values exceed the defined thresholds or drop below them. The status of these exceptions determines a color for this report. Report valuations are inherited in a similar way to report classes, that is, a red colored report causes a red colored report class. A default color is used for the report only, if no exception exists for a report or if the exceptions were not yet evaluated.
