Assets

Now you can process fixed assets not only in the R/3 System, but also using the Internet. For the new Internet functions, there are two new transactions with different conditions:
- "My assets"
- "Assets on my cost center"
In conjunction with the roles provided by SAP, the user not only has a selection of transactions directly related to his job needs, but the functions available in these transactions are tailored directly to his individual requirements.
For example, an employee can maintain various master data herself (such as plant, room, and so on) for fixed assets that are assigned to her (such as a PC or printer), even if there is no R/3 System at her location. The responsibility for depreciation, maintenance of organizational assignments, and the like remains with the asset accountant in this scenario.
Both of these transactions offer a simplified screen layout that is suited to the Internet, along with a limited selection of master data fields. In the initial screen, you use a selection tool to target the assets you want. The system generates a worklist, from which you choose an asset for editing.
In addition to display and editing of assets, you can propose an asset retirement and enter the reason. The accountant responsible for asset retirements is informed by workflow.
Within the framework of the SAP role concept, these transactions are assigned to roles in Employee Self Service.
Effects on Customizing
Tab layout SAPE is pre-defined for the Internet transactions.
You maintain the tab layout in Customizing of Asset Accounting. Choose Master Data -> Screen Layout -> Specify Tab Layout of Asset Master Record.
You maintain asset views under Preparation for Production Startup -> Authorization Management -> Process Asset Views.
