The items numbers selected will be renumbered. The new numbers are: X=3, Y=7, Z=11

Example 2: Adding a Value to Item Numbers

Specifications

Assume that the existing item numbers are: X=3, Y=7, Z=11

{<Change sequence>/Add value to item number} genmsg gendim 55 A "Enter"

{New item number for first element selected}

Enter the smallest existing item number that is to be incremented, and confirm your entry by pressing Enter. In this example, we enter "3".

Last item number to change

Enter the largest existing item number to be incremented), and confirm your entry by pressing Enter, or accept the default (this would be the smallest number just selected, i.e. 3) by pressing Enter. In this example, we enter "7".

Increment by which to increase item numbers

Enter the value by which you want to increase or decrease (negative whole numbers are permissible) all the numbers in the area selected. In this example, we enter an increment of "10". Then press Enter.

The item numbers in the selected area are increased (or decreased) by the increment specified. The new numbers are: X=13, Y=17, Z=11

You can change an individual number by choosing the options <Add value to item numbers>, and then accepting the value for the smallest number to be changed as the largest number to be changed.

When you renumber item numbers, AutoCAD checks to see if there are any duplicate item numbers once the renumbering operation is completed. Any duplicate numbers detected are displayed in a dialog box. In this dialog box, you can decide whether you want to execute the command anyway, or terminate it.
