Use

You can use the "Change" function to make changes to a BOM in the SAP system. You can use this function to make changes to the BOM header data or to the BOM item data of an SAP system BOM.

It does not matter whether you want to change an itemized BOM, summarized BOM, or any other type of BOM. When you make changes to a BOM in the SAP system, AutoCAD provides all the information you need. This means that you can also choose any of the BOM display options (e.g. itemized BOM or structured BOM) available in the SAP system or in AutoCAD. In order to make changes to a BOM, the following prerequisites must be met:

the drawing must contain a reference to a material master record in the SAP system
A BOM must exist in the SAP system for this material master record
Every item (of specific item categories) in the AutoCAD BOM must contain a material number from the SAP system

If the drawing does not yet have a reference to a material master record of a BOM in the SAP system, this means that AutoCAD has not yet been used to create a BOM in the SAP system for this drawing. An error message to this effect will be issued.

If the drawing already has a reference to a master material record for a BOM in the SAP system, the BOM in the drawing will be updated automatically, and the following dialog box will appear:

Before you send your changes to the SAP system, the "Display" function is triggered to search for the BOM in the SAP system, and the old and new BOM items are displayed. At this point, you can still decide whether or not you want to transfer the changes to the SAP system.

In the active fields of the "Header Data" section, you can enter the information required for displaying the BOM. The active fields may already contain default values from various sources:

General default values from the AutoCAD configuration file
Default values from the AutoCAD configuration file for the "Change BOM header" process (see also Installation and Configuration)
The material number of the BOM.

If applicable, the values in the fields of the dialog box can be overwritten in this order.

Function	What the function does
Cancel	Cancels the function "Display/Change AutoCAD parts list and bill of material from the SAP system". The flag "BomCreateUpdate" in the configuration settings determines whether the updated BOM should be retained in AutoCAD.
Display	Starts the function "Display AutoCAD parts list and bill of material from the SAP system".

If a BOM matching the information provided cannot be found in the SAP system, you will be notified accordingly. You can correct your entries, and restart the display process.

If a corresponding BOM is found in the SAP system, the header data is added, the items of the SAP BOM are displayed in the "old BOM items" list box, and the items of the AutoCAD parts list are displayed under "new BOM items". The following dialog box is an example of what you will see if a matching SAP BOM is found:

In the "old BOM items" section, you can see the BOM items that currently exist in the SAP system. In the "new BOM items" section, you can see the items that currently exist in the AutoCAD drawing.

Function	What the function does
Cancel	Cancels the function "Change bill of material in the SAP system". No changes are made to the header or item data of the SAP BOM. The flag "BomCreateUpdate" in the configuration settings determines whether the updated BOM should be retained in AutoCAD.
Change	Proceeds further with the function "Change bill of material in the SAP system". The changes to the header or item data of the BOM are written to the SAP system. If you enter a change number, Engineering Change Management will process this change accordingly.

You can correct your BOM entries, and restart the process.
