Creating a Material Master Record for the BOM Header

Use

The "Create Material" option allows you to create a material master record in the SAP system for the BOM.

Menu path: SAP ® Bill of material ® Create Material

If a reference to a material master record of a BOM in the SAP system already exists, you will be notified accordingly. You can decide whether you want to establish a new reference by creating a material master record.

Function	What the function does
No	Terminates the function "Change material master record in the SAP system". The existing reference to the material master record of a BOM is retained.
Yes	The existing reference to a material master record can be replaced with a reference to the new material master record.

When you choose the "Create Material" function, the following dialog box appears:

In the dialog box fields, you can enter values for the individual SAP fields. The fields may already contain default values from various sources:

General default values from the AutoCAD configuration file (see also Installation and Configuration)
Default values from the AutoCAD configuration file for the "Create material master record" process (see also Installation and Configuration) In our example, the value "x" for the "Engineer view" field. The question marks are also (default) values taken from the AutoCAD configuration file for the process "Create material master record". This tells users that they have to enter data in the fields in question.

If applicable, the values in the fields of the dialog box can be overwritten in this order.

Function	What the function does
Cancel	Cancels the function "Create material master record in the SAP system".
Create	Starts the function "Create material master record in the SAP system". The fields contents are used to create a material master record in the SAP system.

Material numbers can be assigned internally and/or externally (depending on how the SAP system is configured). This will mean either that you have to enter a value in the material number field, or that you can enter a value here if you wish.

If the information you enter is not correct, the system will inform you of this, and the "Create material record" process will be terminated.

The reference to the material number of the BOM is now saved in the drawing.
