BOM Maintenance

If you wish, you can create bills of material (BOMs) for different usages. You can also create several alternative BOMs. However, only one BOM can be displayed in the drawing at any one time. This is the BOM that was created last.

You work through several steps in a specific sequence when you create or change a BOM:

Creating the BOM in AutoCAD, in the drawing or on the printer, an itemized BOM or summarized BOM, etc.

After you have created a BOM in the drawing, AutoCAD registers any changes you make to data that are relevant to the BOM.

Depending on your "AutoUpdatePartList" setting in the "PaList" section of the AutoCAD configuration, you will be notified every time you make a change and given the option of updating the BOM.

If you do not update the BOM at this point, or if you have set the flag to "0", the message will appear when you save the drawing (see Save file).
