Updating from External Database

Procedure

After you have created a BOM in the drawing, each change made to the attributes of the item number, and any cases where item numbers were created or deleted, will be registered by the program.

If you have set the flag "AutoUpdatePartList" in the "PaList" section of the AutoCAD configuration to "1", the following dialog appears when you make a change:

Function

What the function does

No

Terminates the function "Update Parts List".

Yes

Starts the function "Update Parts List".

If the "Update from external database" option is checked when the parts list is updated, all AutoCAD parts contained in the drawing are updated, i.e. if the data of the parts used has been changed in the AutoCAD database, the values in the drawing will be overwritten.

If you do not update the parts list or if you have set the flag " AutoUpdatePartList" to "0", you will be reminded of this when you save the drawing (see Save file).

If drawings are exchanged between two companies whose AutoCAD database entries have references to the material master data of the respective company, this function can be used to create a reference to the material master data of the other company quickly and easily.
