Inventory Management: Project Stock

Description

As of Release 3.0, it is possible to manage project stocks.

Project stock is the quantity of a material that is in stock for the purpose of carrying out a project. Project stock is firmly assigned to a WBS element. Components can be withdrawn only for the WBS element.

Structure of special stock data

To manage the project stocks of a material for different projects separately, special stock data is required in addition to material master data.

This special stock data (table MSPR) is defined at storage location level for each WBS element.

The special stock data is created automatically upon the first receipt into project stock. This data cannot be maintained directly by the user but is updated automatically with each goods movement (or physical inventory).

What stocks exist?

Project stocks are not managed in stock accounts but are assigned directly to the project. For this reason, they are not part of the valuated stock.

The project stock is capable of inclusion in physical inventory.

You enter goods movements for project stock as follows:

The movement types for project stock (except transfer to your company's own stock) are marked by special stock indicator Q.
When you enter a goods movement, you must
To enter a transfer into your company's own stock, select the function Goods movement -> Transfer posting .
To find the movement type, select Movement type -> Transfer posting -> Project stock -> Own from project (movement type 405 without special stock indicator).
You enter a goods receipt for a purchase order or for an order as usual with movement type 101. If an item is assigned to a project (account assignment category Q), the special stock indicator is set automatically for the goods receipt.
