Executing the Data Transfer

Prerequisites

You have tested the data transfer.

No errors have occurred in the conversion program and the data transfer program.

The initial data transfer file is in the required structure.

Customizing has been completed.

Procedure

Convert the data from your legacy system using the conversion program and then generate an initial data transfer file.

Call the Data Transfer Workbench.

Choose Goto ® Execute data transfer.

The data transfer is either executed in batch input or in direct input.

In the case of batch input, you should then create a batch input session. You then process this session. This creates an error log.
In the case of direct input, the system displays the administration transaction for direct input. With direct input, the data is imported directly into the R/3 System. You only have the option to restart the program with direct input using the administration transaction. If the program terminates due to a power failure, for example, you can restart the data transfer at the point where the program terminated.

SAP recommends that you make a backup after transferring larger datasets. The backup prevents you from having to start the data transfer process from the beginning, by saving the stage in the process which you have reached.

Result

The data from your legacy system is transferred into the R/3 System.
