Input syntax: -k no|yes|hardware|only

Default value: no (no compression)

If you specify this option, you can compress your data files before the backup is performed.

• yes : Software compression.

• hardware : Hardware compression. Prerequisite: the tape device must support hardware compression and hardware compression must be active. See Tape Devices with Hardware Compression

• only : Determine the current compression rate of the individual data files. In this case, no backup is started. If you use tape devices with hardware compression, SAP recommends repeating this procedure about once a month. Hardware Compression
