archive_copy_dir

This parameter identifies the directory used by BRARCHIVE to back up the offline redo log files to a local disk.

Default: First value of the parameter backup_root_dir

Required value: A directory in which the offline redo log files should be archived.

This is generally only required in the following cases:

You are working with the parallel server option. For the OPS configuration, it might be necessary for BRARCHIVE to provide the offline redo log files on disk. See Special Features of BRARCHIVE.

You are working with a two-phase archiving procedure (similar to a Two-Phase Backup.) The offline redo log files are first collected in a directory on a disk and then written to tape using external means. The user is responsible for archiving to tape and for restoring from the tape to the disk (should this become necessary in connection with a recovery).

BRARCHIVE archiving on disk should only be used in the situations mentioned above. In all other cases: The offline redo log files must always be archived on tape. Archiving on disk is not a substitute for archiving the offline redo log files on tape.

Archiving to disk and tape should not be combined during a BRARCHIVE run.

When you archive the offline redo log files to disk, you may only use the BRARCHIVE options -s , -sd and -ds .
