This parameter is intended to avoid unreadable backups resulting from defective tapes.

Read/write errors are more likely to occur as the tape use count increases. When a certain value is exceeded, the risk is no longer acceptable.

The parameter default value 100 is only a guide value. To find out what the value should be, contact the manufacturer of your tapes.
