The EarlyWatch service is a service for preventative system maintenance during all phases of the R/3 cycle. With this service, the status of your R/3 System is examined at regular intervals, and a forecast of expected resource requirements is created based on the current and past system data. This avoids performance problems that could arise due to bottlenecks in file storage and other system resources, and also increases the availability of your R/3 System. As well as this, the EarlyWatch service also performs other tasks during the different installation and operation phases of the R/3 System:

• Planning and test run for master data transfer
• Transfer of any transaction data
• Preparation for production start and load tests of the system
• Analysis of response times and tuning of system components after production start (this includes the database system)
