Recovering the Database Automatically
Use
After you have lost a data file or discovered a faulty data files, first try and recover the database with Automatic recovery. SAPDBA automatically selects the last valid backup of the relevant data files and the appropriate log sequence numbers.
Procedure
Choose Automatic recovery, to run the function Partial restore and complete recovery. After each step you are asked whether you want to continue with the recovery. If you use backups to tape for the recovery, SAPDBA prompts you to mount the tapes with the correct labels.
If the automatic recovery terminates, the SAPDBA menu Restore/Recovery appears again. The status display tells you which steps ran successfully (status finished). You must perform any unsuccessful steps (status not finished manually after you have solved the problem that led to the termination.

The function Automatic recovery does not support a recovery of the database with incremental backups.
