Tablespace Administration: Overview

The SAPDBA function Tablespace administration (see SAPDBA: Tablespace administration) can be used to perform the following tasks:

Checking for space problems in tablespaces.

Adding a data file to a tablespace.

If the database system cannot assign any more extents in a tablespace (ORACLE error 1650, 1652-1655), you have to extend - add a new file to - the tablespace. By extending the tablespace, additional freespace exists for further tasks.
