Inventory Management: Unit of Entry is Freely Definable

Description

Until now, the unit of entry was specified by the System according to the type of movement:

Alternatively, the stockkeeping unit alone could be used for goods issues.

Release 3.0 enables you to enter a goods movement or a reservation in any unit of measure of the material.

The unit of entry requires that the unit of measure be defined in the material master record or that it can be converted via standard conversions (for example, g to kg).

For example, you can enter a goods receipt in the unit of issue or stockkeeping unit of the material. The System automatically converts the quantity entered into the stockkeeping unit. In the case of a goods receipt for a purchase order, the System likewise converts the quantity into the order unit.

Changes in procedure

You can now enter a goods movement or a reservation in any unit of measure of the material. If you do not enter a unit of measure, the System will automatically take the unit of entry defined for the goods movement, that is,
