Budget Currency

Definition

The monetary unit in which overall budgets are expressed for a predefined period.

Use

In HR Funds and Position Management, an overall budget is expressed in a currency defined in Customizing. This currency is called the budget currency. All of the budget-related transactions in HR Funds and Position Management (assigning budgets to budget structure elements, for example, or financing positions and persons) use this currency.

In HR Funds and Position Management, you may use only one budget currency per financial year (in other words, you can only define one currency for a specific period in Customizing).

If you want to change the budget currency (if, for example, you are about to switch over to the euro), you must do this in Customizing (step: HR Funds and Position Management ® Overall Budget ® Define Budget Currency). Remember, though, that the budget currency can only be changed as of the financial year following the current financial year.

In this case, the system translates all original budgets into the new currency when you carry forward the overall budget.
