In master data maintenance, you assign each business process to a process category. The information system can use the category as a selection criteria. For example, you can create a list of business processes holding only those processes from a given category.
You create business process "Process Customer Order" and assign it to process category "Administration".
You might also distinguish between "Process Domestic Customer Order" and "Process Foreign Customer Order" because the costs and activities of each process have different factors influencing them. If this is the case, you must define the additional process categories "Domestic Administration" and "Foreign Administration".
