Selecting Objects 

Use

To execute functions in the project planning board, you must first select objects in the table area. The system then knows which objects the function refers to.

The selection functions in the menu of the project planning board always refer to the Gantt chart. To select objects in the overviews, use the relevant functions in the context menu.

Procedure

Selecting Objects

Select in the Gantt Chart

Action

Single project object

Click the selection field for that object

Several project objects
  • Select several individual objects:

Keep the Shift key pressed and click in the selection fields of the objects

  • Select as block:

Click in the selection field of the first object, keep the CTRL key pressed and click in the selection of the last object. All the objects between are selected too.

All project objects

Choose Edit ® Select ® Select all

Only certain project objects

Choose Edit ® Select ® Objects ® WBS element, activity etc.

A sub-tree

Select a WBS element and choose Edit ® Select ® Sub-tree.

Highlighted objects

Edit ® Select ® Highlighted objects.

The system selects all objects that were previously highlighted. For more information, see Highlighting Project Objects

Selecting the Overviews

Action

Single project object

Click in the first column of the object

Several project objects

Keep the Shift key pressed and click in the first column of the objects

All objects in an overview

Choose Select all in the context menu.

Deselecting objects

Deselect in the Gantt Chart

Action

Keep the Shift key pressed and click in the first column of the objects

All project objects

Choose Edit ® Select ® Deselect all

Deselect in the Overviews

Choose Deselect all in the context menu.

If you have set the Add.Sel. Acts indicator in the options profile for the graphics profile in Customizing for Basis, you can select or deselect several objects without pressing the Shift key.
