Creating a Production Resource/Tool as a Material 

  1. On the R/3 main menu choose Logistics ® Production ® Master data ® Prod.resources/tools and then Prod.resources/tools ® Material ® Create general.

    2. If the production resource/tool (PRT) is not to be used immediately but from a particular date in the future, choose Material ® Create ® Schedule

  2. Enter the relevant data on the initial screen.

    3. You must enter a material type for which you can maintain the "Prod. resources/tools" view. An example of such a material type is FHMI in the standard system.

  3. Choose Enter.

    4. The Select View(s) dialog box appears.

  4. Select the Production resources/tools view and any views for any other areas in which the PRT is to be used. Choose Continue.

    5. The Organizational Levels dialog box appears

  5. Enter the plant, that you want to assign the PRT to, and if necessary organizational levels and profiles for the other views

    6. If you have entered a material to copy from in the initial screen, additionally enter the organizational levels from which data is to be transferred.

  6. Choose Continue.

    7. The first view appears.

  7. Enter the necessary data and then choose Next view..
  8. Repeat step 6, until you have edited all the views..

    You use the MM/PP status to release the material for use as a PRT.

    You cannot change the base unit of measure or the unit of issue after you have assigned the material as a PRT to operations.

  9. Save the material.
