Einkauf (MM-PUR)Definition
You can create externally processed activities in your network - for example, if you award the contract for designing a machine to an external design agency.
The system takes the data in the activity and creates a purchase requisition which is processed by the purchasing department. For external processing purposes, you can refer to data from the purchasing department - for example, to a purchasing info record. This contains the prices and delivery times applying to external processing.

Activities and activity elements are processed in the same way in external processing. The following describes only the functions for externally processed activities. Where there are differences, these are mentioned specifically.
The graphic illustrates how the purchase requisition from an externally processed activity is processed.

When are Purchase Requisitions Created?
You can create purchase requisitions:
You can use this function if, for example, your project is still in the proposal stage and you do not want any purchase requisitions to be created yet.
In the external processing detail screen, you can:
Changes to Quantities and Dates
If quantities and dates in the activity change, the purchase requisition is automatically corrected, if it has not yet been converted into a purchase order. Depending on the release procedure in Purchasing, quantities and dates are corrected automatically.
If quantities and dates in the activity change and the purchase order has already been created, a workflow is started. The purchasing agent receives a message in the mail system regarding the changes that need to be made. This person can then make the necessary changes to the purchase order directly from the mail system.
External Processing in Standard Networks
You can also maintain data for external processing in standard networks. If you use the standard network as a template for creating a network, the system copies the purchasing date into that network.
External Processing Costs
The system calculates the costs from external processing using one of the following:
