You can enter more detailed work data for the activity in the "work" activity element. Work elements contain the same information for planning work as the data for work in the internally processed activities.
Activity Types (CO Activities)

In activity-based accounting, activity types are used to calculate the costs in production orders, networks etc. Within the Project System they are referred to as "CO activities" to reflect the controlling view of the activity.
If you want to cost networks, you have to enter an activity type in the field other activity type and a formula key for calculating costs. In work centers, networks are considered one of the "other types of internal processing". You can use the activity type to, add another cost rate for special qualifications, or weekend work, for example.
What you enter in the field other activity type in the work center is what will be proposed as a default value in the activity in the network. You can also enter a different activity type during planning or a confirmation.

You can only enter a different activity type in the network activity, if the new activity type is assigned to the same cost center as the work center.
Work
Here you specify the planned amount of work involved in carrying out the activity. For example, you can specify the engineering activity in hours or energy requirements in kilowatt hours. Using the value for work and the formula for calculating capacity requirements entered the work center, the system determines the capacity requirements during scheduling.
You can enter basic and forecast data for work in network activities.
Number of Required Capacities
Here you specify the how much capacity is required to do the work in the activity - for example, two people or three machines. This number refers to the capacity category, which is entered on the scheduling screen in the work center.
You should to enter a number in this field if you want to determine the duration of, or the work in the activity using the calculation key.
Percentage
With this value you specify the percentage of the operating time that is used in the activity.
The percentage is only used when you let the system calculate duration, work or the number of capacities using the calculation key.
If you do not enter a percentage, the system will assume 100%.
If you enter a work center in the activity, the system calculates duration using the operating time defined in the work center.
Calculation Key
You can maintain the data for work, duration, and number of capacities required manually, or, you can let the system determine it using the calculation key.
Depending on the calculation key you entered in the activity, the system calculates:
The following table lists which data you have to maintain for which calculation key.

You can also use the calculation key to calculate work and duration without entering a value for the number of capacities. The system automatically sets the number to one and 100 percent for the operating time.

Distribution of Capacity Requirements
The key for the distribution of capacity requirements specifies how much capacity requirements are accrued (in percent) after a certain percentage of activity duration. The resulting distribution is included in capacity planning based on the distribution key you specified in Customizing.
