Dates in Milestones
Features
You can maintain basic dates and forecast dates for milestones. The following is an overview of dates that you can define for milestones
Actual dates
Actual dates can be either:
- Manually entered, once a milestone is met, or
- Automatically copied from the confirmation, if the degree of processing is greater or equal to the percentage of completion in the milestone.
The confirmed actual date is the default value, however, you can overwrite it.
Fixed Dates
A fixed date is a manually entered finish date on which the milestone should be reached.

To be able to use the
milestone technique for WBS elements in earned value analysis, you must use fixed dates for the milestone.
Dates
As an alternative to fixed dates, you can also specify the following for a milestone:
- Whether the offset should be for the earliest or latest set of dates for the activity (only for activities)
- Whether the offset should be to the start or finish of the activity or WBS element
- How long the offset to the scheduled start or finish of the activity or WBS element is You enter the offset as either a time or a percentage. When the offset is a percentual value, it is a percentage of the duration.

The activity has a duration of 50 days and an offset of 20% to the start. The milestone date is 10 days after the activity start.
Scheduled Dates
Scheduling calculates the scheduled dates in the following manner:
- If the milestone has a fixed date, this date is automatically copied as a scheduled date.
- If an offset date was entered for the milestone, the system uses this information in determining the scheduled date.
