You can break down activities into activity elements for more detail. For example, the activity "Production" can be subdivided into the elements "Produce power unit" and "Produce housing". Or you can create an external element for the activity "Engineering/Design", if for instance a detailed design is to be performed by an external company.

There are the same categories for activity elements as for activities themselves in the Project System:

• General costs elements

• External processing elements

• Internal processing elements

You can create activity elements for every activity.

Activity elements contain the same information as activities:

• A work center can be assigned to them.

• They can be assigned to WBS elements

• The operative level for costing and confirmations is determined by the control key.

• The dates for the activity elements are calculated with respect to the start date or the finish date of the corresponding activity. Enter an offset to the start or finish of the activity to specify the start/finish of the activity element.
