Creating WBS Elements in the Hierarchy Graphic 

Use

You can use the hierarchy graphic as a quick, easy way to create WBS elements.

Prerequisite

You have first stipulated how the WBS elements are to be inserted by choosing Edit ® Default settings ® Insert.

Procedure

Creating WBS Elements

  1. Call up the hierarchy graphic by choosing Goto ® Hierarchy graphic.
  2. Choose Create.
  3. The node area is opened under the display area. It contains a new WBS element.

  4. Click the blank WBS element in the node area.
  5. The system moves the WBS element into the display area.

  6. Drag the WBS element to the correct position in the hierarchy by holding down on the right mouse button and moving the mouse.
  7. Release the mouse button at the desired place.
  8. The dialog box Create WBS Element is displayed.

    Here you can see which reference element you have chosen and the relationship between the reference element and the new WBS element.

  9. Choose Confirm.
  10. The dialog box Change WBS Element appears.

  11. Enter a number and other data for the WBS element.
  12. Choose Create WBS Elements to create more elements.
  13. Choose Confirm.
  14. The WBS element is inserted into the hierarchy.

  15. Return to the WBS element overview.

Maintaining Operative Indicators in the Hierarchy Graphic

You can maintain the operative indicators for individual WBS elements in the hierarchy graphic: To do this, double click the relevant fields below the WBS element description:

You can cancel these flags by double clicking the relevant fields again.
