Document storage via Knowledge Provider

Definition

Indicator controls that the original files are stored in defined storage systems (content repository) via Knowledge Provider.

Note:
We recommend that you only use storage using the Knowledge Provider when defining a new document type.

Do not set the indicator for a document type afterwards anymore. If original application files have already been maintained and storage has not been carried out using the Knowledge Provider the system cannot manage these original application files.

Use

You make the necessary settings for the storage system in Customizing ( Settings for storage systems).

Dependencies

You can minimize storage work by entering a

default storage category in the user specific settings and allocating it to the required user group.

Example

The following overview shows you several storage categories that are

defined for the storage system AR1 (Archive 1), storage type HTTP Cntent Server and therefore allow for systematic storage of original files.

Storage category Content of the original files
AR1-1 gerneal information
AR1-2 training documents
AR1-3 test instructions

When you want to store an orginal file while processing the document info record you can choose the storage category.

Notes

Old document types whose original application files were never in a storage system can be converted with the following program: DMS_KPRO_CONVERT (Migration DMS storage into into KPRO storage).
