Planning Variants w/o Final Assembly (55)

Purpose

This strategy is similar to Planning w/o Final Assembly (50) for non-configurable materials. The difference between these two strategies is that strategy 55 allows the user to reconfigure the variant during a sales order.

Changes to the configuration must not affect planned components. Planned independent requirements for variants do not make sense when changing the configuration of the variant in the sales order. A sold item that has no relation to the configuration of the planned variant could result. Therefore, change the configuration for strategy 55 with care.

Prerequisites

You must maintain the following master data settings:

Process Flow

  1. You create one planned independent requirement per variant. The variant must be completely configured.
  2. Components of the variants are procured.
  3. You create sales orders either directly by entering a variant or a configurable material and by using variant determination. The Requirements Type display for strategy 55 is KELV. To display the requirment type from the Sales Order screen, choose Procurement tab strip.
  4. The system automatically adjusts the master plan if no planning variant can be found.

  5. Make-to-Order production (assembly) of the finished product takes place.
  6. The finished product is delivered.
