MTO Production for Material Variants (26)

Purpose

This strategy is similar to Make-to-Order Production (20). The difference is that strategy 26 lets you change the configuration of the variant.

Prerequisites

You must maintain the following master data settings:

One configurable material with the standard configuration data such as characteristics, classes, and configuration profiles.
One variant for defined combinations of characteristics values. Limit the number of combinations.

Process Flow

Stage 1: Demand Management

Does not apply.

Stage 2: Procurement Before Sales

Does not apply.

Stage 3: Sales Order

You create a sales order either directly by entering a variant or a configurable material and using variant determination. The system finds the requirement type KEL because the strategy group has been set to 26. To display the requirement type from the Sales Order screen, choose Procurement tab strip.

Stage 4: Procurement After Sales

Make-to-Order production of the finished product takes place.

Stage 5: Goods Issue for Delivery and Reduction of Planned Independent Requirements

Delivery of the finished product takes place.
