Partner Data 

Use

Serial number processing is linked to the partner functionality. This means that you can assign a partner function to the following functions:

Serial number field

Vendor

Goods recipient

Sales and Distribution

Customer
End customer
Operator

Sold-to party
Invoice recipient
Goods recipient

Prerequisites

Make the following settings in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service:

  1. Define a partner determination procedure under Basic Settings ® Partner data. When doing this you can define a partner function as a mandatory function.
  1. Assign the partner determination procedure to the equipment category under Equipment. Define also which partner functions should appear on the individual tab pages in the serial number master record.

Features

If you have assigned a partner function to the serial number field, the block Partner data is displayed on the corresponding tab page (Serial data, Sales or General). Instead of the original field description (for example, Customer), the preset partner function (for example, Sold-to party) is displayed. The fields are ready for input.

The original field descriptions are displayed on the tab page Other; the fields are not ready for input.

If you have not assigned a partner function to a field, it does not appear on the corresponding tab page, but on the tab page Other. This time it is ready for input.
