You can influence the selection of message data for an evaluation via the following settings:

• by defining rules for the selection of process messages according to their characteristic values

• via your definition of the graphic layout or the XXL layout

• by specifying the evaluation period as well as the message category to be taken into account in a specific evaluation

For each process message characteristic, you can define a rule which restricts the value range for this characteristic. A process message is only taken into account in an evaluation if

• it contains all characteristics for which a rule has been entered

• its characteristic values are within the range defined via the rules

The selection rules can be made up of arithmetic expressions, relations and logical operations. You will find details on the rule syntax in the field help for the selection rule.

A process message is only selected for evaluation via XXL if it contains the following characteristics:

• at least one of the column characteristics defined in the layout

• all of the line characteristics defined in the layout

• all of the column group characteristics defined in the layout

A process message is only selected for evaluation via the SAP business graphic if it contains all the characteristics selected for the evaluation run.

When carrying out a specific evaluation, you can specify a message category and an evaluation period for the evaluation run. A process message will only be taken into account in the evaluation if it

• belongs to the message category specified

• was created within the evaluation period specified
