Material Quantity Calculation

The material quantity calculation function enables you to calculate the quantities of individual components required to manufacture an end product, using a special calculation sheet.

To call up the calculation sheet, proceed as follows:

  1. Select the menu options Material ® Material quantity calculation in the material list.
  2. The system branches to the calculation sheet. In this sheet, the top row is available for entering a formula definition. The data table below lists your components, the requirements quantities, and various columns for the characteristics you have assigned to your components in the classification function. If you have not assigned any characteristics, only the requirements quantities are displayed.
  3. Row 1 contains the material number and requirements quantity of the material you want to produce. This row is protected against entries.

  4. To calculate the quantity required of an individual component, choose the cell you want to formulate and then click on Formula definition. The requirements quantity of this component, or a formula, if one exists, will appear in the Formula definition row at the top of the sheet.
  5. Using the various mathematical functions in the sheet, you can now enter a formula to calculate the amount required for each component. The row you are working on will always be highlighted. Once you have finished the formula, you can press Enter to have the system calculate the quantity you need of the respective component.
  6. Using the characteristics, you can identify further factors for your calculation. For example, you can store a factor in the characteristics which will enable you to calculate concentrated quantities from effective quantities.
  7. Select Transfer results.

You return to the Material list screen. The system has entered the quantity calculated in the calculation sheet as the requirements quantity for your component.
