Scheduling Type Definition

Use

When you create an order or schedule a master recipe, you use the scheduling type to determine the following:

The date that the system uses as the starting point for scheduling
Whether the system schedules forwards or backwards

Prerequisites

The required scheduling types have been defined in Customizing for Process Orders.

Features

The following scheduling types are available:

Forward scheduling: If you choose this type, the system schedules forwards starting from the basic start date you entered.

Backward scheduling: If you choose this type, the system schedules backwards starting from the basic finish date you entered.

"Today" scheduling: If you choose this type, the system schedules forwards using the current date as the basic start date.

Only capacity requirements: If you choose this type, the system does not schedule the individual phases and secondary resources but only the entire master recipe or order. The system uses the floats before and after production to calculate the scheduled order or recipe dates and transfers them into all phases, operations, and secondary resources.

When you schedule process orders, the system determines capacity requirements at the phase level and secondary resource level. This is why this type is called Only capacity requirements.

You also use the scheduling type to determine whether a date, or a date and a time is required for the basic dates.
