Capacity Data Maintenance

Use

You assign capacity data to a resource to define the ability of this resource to carry out tasks in certain periods of time. You require capacity data as a basis for capacity requirements planning and the scheduling of master recipes and process orders.

You can create capacities that are used by several resources (for example, line operators) as pooled capacities that are independent of resources and then assign them to resources. See also Capacity Maintenance.

The screens and data fields in resource maintenance correspond for the most part to those in capacity maintenance.

Activities

You assign a capacity category to the resource and, depending on the resource category, a capacity type:

For resources that are used in production, a capacity category with available capacity in a time unit
For resources that are used for storage, a capacity category with available capacity in a volume unit / unit of measure
For resources that are used in storage and in production, a capacity category with available capacity in a time unit and in a volume unit / unit of measure

The capacity type is assigned to a capacity category in Customizing.

For resources used in production you maintain:

A formula for calculating the capacity requirements for internal processing
A formula for distributing the capacity requirements

You maintain capacity header data (with a standard available capacity or an available capacity in volume / quantity). This includes:

General data, such as the responsible planner group
For resources used in production, data that defines a standard available capacity that is time-related, such as work start and finish, break time duration, rate of capacity utilization, number of individual capacities, and the factory calendar on which the available capacity is based
For resources with a storage function, data that defines a quantity or volume-related available capacity, such as the minimum and maximum commitment and the number of individual capacities

If required, you create various versions of an available capacity.

If required, you create intervals for available capacity for time periods in which the available capacity differs from the standard available capacity.

The shift values that you define here refer, depending on the resource category, to the capacity based on time or the capacity based on quantity.

If required, you check the capacity data in an available capacity profile or in a graphic.
