Definition of Update Rules

Use

Update rules are used for fine-tuned control in updating key figures. If you want to define value and/or quantity key figures with a dependency on value categories and/or accounting indicators, you must define a formula for each key figure to be updated which completes the update rule for a key figure.

Prerequisites

Before you can define rules and formulas in the Customizing function of the Logistics Information System, you must enter your own value and/or quantity key figures in the system.

Activities

Maintenance of Table Entries

Enter all value and/or quantity key figures that are to be updated in the information structures which you have defined in the table TPMCKF.

You can maintain the table entries in the Customizing function of Plant Maintenance under Information System ® User-defined key figures.

You must ensure that the key figures have the same names as the data elements previously created. It is best to use the input help in the field Key figure to do this. If you have created an append structure for the communication structure MCIPMCOUSR, the system automatically proposes the key figures defined there as possible entries.

Assignment of Value Categories/Accounting Indicators

You can update the value and/or quantity key figures that you have defined with a dependency on the value category and/or accounting indicator of the actual costs. You can define these dependencies only for key figures that you have previously defined in the table TPMCKF.

You can maintain entries in the Table / View V_PMCOCKF in the Customizing function of Plant Maintenance in Information System ® User-defined key figures. To do this, assign the value category and accounting indicator to the respective key figures in whose dependency the key figure should be updated.

You can define a number of different combinations of value categories and accounting indicators that are valid for updating the same key figure. If you want to update the key figure independently of the value category and/or accounting indicator, enter * in the relevant column.
